So, it has taken me a while to get used to the new work schedule (5 - 12 hour days) plus stay on top of my school and such. But I think I have managed to figure out a good daily planner for my schedule that will allow me to get back to work on this site and the Flash games. For the Flash Card Game I have hit a mile stone. I have reached the point in programming where the time to write code has exceeded the time to play the game. This happens with just about every game development at some point.

Follow up:

Basically what this means is that the time difference between you starting, logging in, playing the game and reaching a game decision (win or lose) and ending the game, now takes less time than it does for me to write the code for you to do all that. I use this method of time framing instead of a completion percentage when building games to tell how close the game is to completion (read: Beta testing). The reason is I can easily say "The game is 85% complete" and you think it is coming out soon. 6 months later I say, "We are now 91% complete" and now you are mad at me. The reason is that I can be 90% done coding a game, and not be past the main menu screen that you will see. Sometimes, graphics, game play code, etc only takes up a very small portion of the actual game. Say maybe 10 to 20 percent of the overall process. If I say we are 80% done, which we might well be, it could still be months to release. Its all in perception. To avoid this anger at slow releases, I use the play vs. code rules. If the time to play is more than code time, we are no where near complete, when they are equal, we are near a good starting point for inserting graphics, when play time is less than coding we are working on adding things to the game, testing each step as we go, etc. When code time doubles play time, it is very near release time. In other news, I am working on a new Flash tutorial (CS3 & CS4 versions) and will hope to have the tutorial and download sections of the site up in about 3 or 4 weeks. I am also still working on the Flash for the main page of the site. The landing page/navigation menu. This will be a nice finish to my worries about the site, and I can finally get rid of the Magic 6. Although I am sure I will keep it around somewhere for nostalgia. Okay peoples (and others) I need to get busy. Until next time...
